Here are some of the pics of the induction ceremony of the beast at Visakhapatnam. Defence Minister AK Antony revealed that they have proposal to induct another Akula-II nuclear submarine. But he refused to divulge further details as to where the proposal has come from and how many submarines are on the offer. "There is a proposal, but we have not taken a decision," Antony said.
Navy officials suggest that the requirement of Indian Navy is to have around eight such submarines. Presently India is constructing two nuclear submarines. INS Arihant - first home built nuclear attack submarine - will be ready for sea trials any time soon. And the construction on the second one Aridaman is also going on in full swing at Visakhapatnam.
If you notice the 6th pic carefully, you can make out a square in the casing of the submarine. It is the Rescue Sphere. The 100 odd crew members can fit into this Rescue Sphere in case of emergency and when released it has positive buoyancy ad will bring all the crew to the safety.
