General VK Singh Chief of Army Staff had written to Prime Minister
on March 12, 2012 drawing his attention to certain issues relating to our
national defence and security. These issues are being examined in MoD (Ministry
of Defence). By their very nature, such issues cannot form the subject of
public debate.
Publishing the contents of secret communications within government
cannot serve our national security. Our defence preparedness has always been
strong and I can assure this house and the nation that it our intention to keep
it strong. Government has spared no effort, and will do everything necessary,
to ensure that our defence forces are provided, equipped and trained to be amongst
the best fighting forces in the world.
Since this matter has been raised I wish to assure the
house, and through the house he nation, that the government is determined to
continue to do all that is necessary to ensure the security and defence of India.
